Why I'm making a second film
The Perfect Human Diet
Thirteen years ago my search became The Perfect Human Diet. I went looking for an answer to the obesity epidemic and diet-related disease, and the answer surprised me: the authentic human diet.
I ended that film with a hope: that what we found on that search would one day be part of the conversation when the government writes its nutrition guidelines.
This January, the scientific report behind the 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans opened its account of modern diets with one sentence about the foods humans ate for most of our history. Seven references support that sentence. Four of them are the work of two scientists you meet in the film, Dr. S. Boyd Eaton and Dr. Loren Cordain. I've put the references on a page called Cited, so you can see them for yourself.
Hope is back. It is the beginning of the other side of the story, and I'm making the second film to tell it.
On Giving Tuesday, December 1, I'm asking you for one thing: join the Producers Circle and help me make The Perfect Human Diet 2. Members at $100 and up are thanked in the end credits.
Watch the first film on Apple TV.
